Clean Up Darlington Day

The City of Darlington Beautification Board typically holds a fall and spring Clean Up Darlington Day with the Darlington Garden Club and other volunteers.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions of gatherings, the Board has decided to ask for YOUR HELP!

Join Lt. Governor Evette, Clemson University’s Solid Green, and PalmettoPride for a safe litter pickup event that will bring South Carolina together. Grab a bag, rally your friends and family, put on your safety gear and head outside for a chance to enjoy the outdoors while making a difference. Show pride by doing something good for yourself and your community!

We want to keep Darlington beautiful, and, while we can’t get together in big groups, we can work closer to home with a few socially distanced friends to spruce up our outdoors.

Pick up official Palmetto Pride green trash bags from the City Administration Building (410 Pearl Street).  Sign your name or your group’s name, contact number and email.  We use these figures to apply for grants.

Collect litter anywhere in town Sunday, November 1, through Thursday, November 15, and deposit the green bags on the side of the road for staff to collect during normal routes. Staff will only be collecting the special green Palmetto Pride bags, so, if you use other bags, please deposit them in your roll cart at home or other appropriate trash receptacle, such as the County’s recycling centers.

After you’ve picked up your bag(s), challenge three (3) friends to do the same. Just tag them on your favorite social platform and use #GrabABagSC and #DarlingtonProud.

2019 Clean Up Darlington Day

Last year, during the #GrabABagSC campaign, volunteers collected more than 300 pounds of litter in one morning!
