Darlington County Habitat for Humaity is part of a global, nonprofit housing organization operated on Christian principles that seeks to put God’s love into action by building homes, communities and hope. Darlington County Habitat for Humanity is dedicated to eliminating substandard housing locally and worldwide through constructing, rehabilitating and preserving homes; by advocating for fair and just housing policies; and by providing training and access to resources to help families improve their shelter conditions. Darlington County First Steps provides programs, services, and information to strengthen the families and communities of Darlington County. Its Board of Directors meets at 5:30 p.m. the second Tuesday of the month at the Hartsville Chamber Boardroom, 214 N. Fifth St., Hartsville.

Our local School District, Darlington County School District has been ranked in the top 5 in the state for academic achievement and on-time graduation rates for the last few years.
The City of Darlington is part of The Eastern SC Heritage Region, a tourism project that promotes sites to experience in seven themes: African American heritage, Agriculture, Arts and Architecture, Culinary, Nature, Military History, and Racing. S.C. Homeownership and Employment Lending Program (SC HELP) is a foreclosure-prevention program backed by the U.S. Department of the Treasury and the S.C. State Housing Finance & Development Authority. It already has helped more than 5,000 homeowners keep their mortgages from slipping into default or foreclosure. This financial aid has been a lifeline for our state’s families, communities and economy.
