Marianna White Named Associate Municipal Judge in City of Darlington

DARLINGTON, SC (Oct. 1, 2025) – Judge Marianna White has been sworn in as the City of Darlington’s new Associate Municipal Judge.

On Wednesday afternoon, surrounded by family and her new coworkers, Judge White became the first-ever female officially sworn in to serve as the Associate Municipal Judge for the City of Darlington. A native of Wakefield, Va., she has resided in the Palmetto State since 2016.

“It is a great honor to be entrusted with the responsibility of serving as a municipal judge for the City of Darlington,” Judge White said. “I look forward to serving the community with fairness, integrity and respect.”

In this role, Judge White will assist the Honorable Robert Stucks with presiding over Municipal Court, and she’ll also be setting bonds, reviewing and signing warrants, imposing penalties, maintaining records and helping to maintain integrity of the legal process in the Pearl of the Pee Dee.

“I’m really honored for being able to swear Judge White in,” said Municipal Judge Stucks. “I’m just excited about her coming onboard, and we’re just looking forward to the future.”

Judge White grew up on her family’s fifth generation farm in Virginia, and while farm life was rewarding, she always had a passion for law. In 2015, she graduated from East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina with a degree in Political Science. From there, she moved to Columbia, South Carolina to attend law school at the University of South Carolina School of Law, where she obtained a Juris Doctorate degree in 2020.

In June of 2021, Judge White began working as an assistant public defender for the Fourth Circuit Public Defender’s Office in Darlington County, and since that time, she has handled hundreds of cases, ranging in severity from shoplifting to murder. In March of 2025, she became the public defender for Marlboro County.

Judge White has a passion for animals and gives back by sitting on the board of directors for the Florence Area Humane Society.

She is married to Darlington native Ryan White, who is the Violent Crime Prosecutor for the 12th Circuit Solicitor’s Office. When she’s not at work, Judge White enjoys cooking, gardening, reading and spending time with her two wonderful children as mom to Beau and bonus mom to Rennie.
