The City of Darlington requests contractors submit bids to clear the banks of a 1.5-acre pond owned by the City.

ON-SITE MEETING: A meeting with staff will be held on the site, 1775 Harry Byrd Highway, Darlington, at 10 a.m. Monday, April 12. The gated entrance to the property is directly across from Darlington Middle School.

JOB DETAILS: Remove brush and debris from the banks of the City pond, approximately 1,100 linear feet. This includes removal of trees 36” DBH or smaller. Live trees 48” DBH or larger shall be protected. Stumps must be ground. Debris may be chipped into mulch and placed in a designated area on-site, or debris shall be removed from the site. Work shall commence within 45 days of notification of bid award. Job shall be complete within 75 days of bid award.


Please submit the following with your sealed bid packet: Business Name and Address, Contact Phone Number, State Business License and/or other Credentials Held, Copy of Liability Insurance and Workers Compensation Insurance, Form W-9, City Business License (if already in possession), Years in Business, Three phone references, and Bid for job.

Packets should be labeled in care of City Planning Department, ATTN. POND CLEARING CONTRACT.
Submit by 2 p.m. Thursday, April 15, to City Planning, P.O. Box 57, Darlington, SC 29540, or in person to City Hall, 400 Pearl St., Darlington.

Bids will be read and opened at 3 p.m. Thursday, April 15, at the City Administration Building conference room, 410 Pearl St., Darlington.
Darlington City Council may reject any and all bids and will make its determination at its meeting on Tuesday, May 4.

SEWER LINE REPAIR: On Monday, July 15, N. Ervin St. will be closed at the Cashua St. entrance due to a sewer line repair. To access N. Ervin St., you will need to enter through the Spring St. entrance. Repair time is unknown until crews are able to break ground.
